Charlotte Birchard Centres for Early learning

Resolution between CUPE and CBCEL

We are writing to provide an important update regarding the unfair labour practice complaint filed by CUPE against Charlotte Birchard Centres for Early learning (CBCEL) as well as the application seeking the reinstatement of Amanda Quance that many of you supported through your petition.

We are pleased to inform you that the matter has now been successfully resolved through a settlement agreement between CUPE, CBCEL and Ms. Quance.

As part of this resolution, Ms. Quance will not return to work at CBCEL. However, CBCEL and CUPE are working to ensure that all staff understand their rights under the Ontario Labour Relations Act, particularly those related to unionization and representation in the workplace. The resolution reflects a shared commitment to maintaining a fair and respectful workplace.

CUPE remains committed to representing and advocating for childcare workers’ rights.
