Dear Good Beginnings Child Care Workers: Your co-workers are organizing a union!

When you join CUPE you have:

  • More power to win annual wage increases, benefits, and job security
  • A process to address problems at work, and the power of a union to win solutions
  • Proven expertise and advocacy in the child care sector
  • Use your collective voice to improve your working conditions

Unionized child care workers with CUPE have won:

  • Paid Program time (up to 5 hours for ECE’s)
  • 18 sick days
  • Access to Provincial Workplace Safety and Insurance Board coverage for injuries on the job
  • Access to a pension plan such as the Multi Sector Pension Plan
  • Professional fees paid
  • Improved and guaranteed benefits (no changing of providers without your input!)
  • Annual wage increases (separate from provincial top-up)

Join CUPE: The first step to building power is to sign a CUPE Union card.:

OR Text: 416-899-6445 to meet with your CUPE Organizer

Once a majority of Good Beginnings child care workers sign a membership card, CUPE will submit an application to the Ontario Labour Relations Board (OLRB). Within 1 week, the OLRB will hold a vote. When the majority of workers who cast ballots vote YES, you will become unionized. Union cards and the vote are confidential: your employer never gets to see who signed union cards.
