Child care workers in Ontario have been undervalued and underpaid for far too long. The time is now to win recognition through fair wages, benefits and working conditions!
As child care workers and early childhood educators, we know the importance of our work to the development of young children and the ability of families to thrive and communities to prosper. Raising the floor for child care workers means investing in quality child care services. Over 5,000 child care workers like you – including educators, assistants, cooks and cleaners working in centres across Ontario – are united through CUPE to build the power it will take to raise our labour standards.
Through CUPE, we are leading campaigns for higher wages, job security, and real solutions to the crisis facing child care workers. As CUPE members, we are fighting not only for ourselves at each centre, but for the rights, wages, and respect for workers across our entire sector in Ontario. By uniting more child care workers through CUPE, we are working to create a stronger voice to win higher standards at work.

Tell Doug Ford Ontario needs $10/Day Child Care!
The $10-a-Day plan has transformed life for families and strengthened our economy.
But the Ford government has yet to sign the extension agreement with the federal government to secure the future of this vital program in our province. In April, in a letter to families, the Ford government suggested that they may reconsider its commitment to the $10/day child care plan. This is despite the promise made previously to Ontarians by Doug Ford to reduce parent fees to $10 per day on average by March 2026.
