West Nipissing child care workers are building union power

Educators and support staff at West Nipissing Child Care Corporation (WNCCC) are organizing to build the collective power needed to achieve meaningful improvements in their workplace. As a collective, workers are working toward securing fair wages, stronger benefits, safer working conditions, and a greater voice in the decisions that affect their daily work. Organizing is about ensuring that every worker is treated with dignity, respect, and fairness. When workers unite, they are better positioned to advocate for positive changes that benefit everyone in the community.

Here’s how you can join:

Forming a union is a democratic process for building power in your workplace. The first step to winning is to sign a CUPE union card. Once a strong majority of workers sign a union card you and your coworkers will vote. When a majority of workers vote YES, you have a union!

Union cards and the vote are confidential: your employer never sees who signed union cards or how you vote.
